About

Hello Gorgeous!

Thanks for stopping by to look into my bridal and event services. Let me tell you a little about me just to get an ideal of what kind of artist I am and how I can work with you to create an amazingly dreamy look for your special day.

Makeup and Grooming by Kathy Aragon for Jan09 DC Modern Luxury Magazine.

I’m a DC and NY based editorial (magazine) artist as well as an artist who does makeup for all events from weddings to Inaugurations. I am also a CNN Network artist as well.

You might notice I am a very laid back artist which mean I likes to mesh with whoever it is I’m working on. This does not mean I’m not completely professional, because I am. I just don’t believe in doing something for a living that you don’t love, and people are a big part of my business, therefore I like to bring a positive attitude to any job I am doing. I not only get ongoing referrals from past clients because of my love of clean and detailed makeup but because I bring a "joyful presence" to any type of job I am on (so I’ve been told).

Now here is more about the actual work I do.

As I mentioned, I have a lust for clean and beautiful makeup. I don’t put more makeup on you than needed and I don’t consider a makeup job a paint by numbers project. Everyone’s face and features are different. Everyone has that little thing they love and that little thing they would rather not showcase. That is where I come in. I blend any flaws away and highlight your best features to make you look like you, but just glowing and radiant on your special day. Every bride’s taste is different as well. One may love their eyes to speak dramatic volumes while another may just want to keep a very understated yet polished look for their day. I am here to work in collaboration with you to create exactly what you want , and maybe even what you didn’t think could be possible!

Makeup and Hair by Kathy Aragon/ FW Magazine/ Corcoran Gallery

I started in weddings and moved into the fashion and commercial field through time so I do not do weddings full time anymore. I have only given my schedule time to pick up a handful of weddings randomly throughout the  year and book the dates on a first come, first serve basis. Please don’t ever hesitate to ask if I have the availability. I have just now opened up my book so there are still openings available.

Please feel free to check out my portfolio on here as well as more photos on my website, www.kathyaragon.com. You can also see my blog feed below or visit it directly at kathyaragon.blogspot.com for behind the scenes stories on some of the photoshoots you see in the magazines today.

Thank you and I hope to work with you soon!

Kathy

Frequently Asked Questions for Beauty & Health
What beauty services do you offer?
Hair, Makeup

Do you charge for trials?
I do have a fee for trials which include the bride alone. Others in the party may have a trial at a separate cost.

Do you travel to the client on the day of the event? If yes, is there a fee?
I do travel on the day of the wedding although the consultation is to be held in my studio in Lorton, VA. There is an additional fee if outside of my general vicinity. Anywhere in Washington D.C. is at no extra travel cost.

How many customers can you serve at one time if the bride were to book her entire bridal party? Are there discounts for doing so?
I have easily accommodated wedding parties up to 10 people on my own and more with an assistant. The assistant is an additional fee.

How far in advance should clients book your services?
I am actually a little bit different in regards to many makeup artists as I prefer short notice weddings over weddings far out. I work with an artist agency providing makeup for commercial, tv, and print clients on a regular basis so my schedule is very spontaneous and does not allow for me to make long term plans. If your wedding is close to now and you are still looking for an artist do not hesitate to call me.

What is your cancellation policy?
Answered in full on contract. Please ask for more details.
